"Journal for Family Recipes and Memories"
.
The idea for a “Family Recipe Book,” came to me one Christmas. I made copies for my three daughters and now the grandchildren also have the family cookbook. Down through the years our family entertained many family and friends around our dining room table. I had a small gray box where I had collected recipes for almost fifty years. I went back and wrote out each of those recipes that were my family favorites. With each recipe I told a memory and also where I had found the recipe. I have to say I still have the small gray box of recipes, for so many of them had been written by my family members who are now in Heaven, Just seeing their hand written notes brings joy to my heart. “Family Traditions” are a cohesive bond in families. The holidays are a time that those favorite recipes surface. I often hear it said that some of the best recipes have not been documented. I will share one of our family favorites, “croissants rolls,” that I manage to make for every family gathering. May the fragrance that fills your home from your own recipes bring with them special memories for your own families, telling them how much you love them in a quiet and tender way. The photograph was taken by Barry Oslo. Blessings to you and your family as you too collect your special recipes. was taken by For more information visit Amazon.com.

I have heard said from those I have known who truly made a difference in life, “Give back to others. It was later in my own life that I began to write those snippets of my personal journey and it evolved into books on my library shelf. I have a stack of the black and white Composition tablets in my cupboard I have used through the years in writing. I will have to say it is the lovely small journals I have collected for many years that I seem to come back to often. I am amazed at some of those early morning prayers that were written down. I am relieved that I listed date of writing as later it would give me a sense of time and place.
With this in mind I have designed a small journal that can be easily carried in one’s purse or computer bag. I have given a view suggestions to aid in writing those stories, poems and prayers that you can preserve for future use. The journal has lined numbered pages, table of contents and creative suggestions to enhance writing skills and for convenience in later finding writing topics.
I do a great deal of writing on my laptop, but those most intimate thoughts and prayers I tend to write in cherished .journals. Many of those writings later have been incorporated into the non-fiction novels, blogs and journals.
I chose the picture of the sand hill cranes who have shared my view of the lake early in the mornings as the sun comes up. You can find the thoughts that were penned in the morning entitled, “Morning Mist, “on a blog in my website.
First and foremost I would encourage you to take this little journal book and just start writing. The more you pen your thoughts to the page, the courage and discipline will expand.

Growing up on a homestead in northern Wyoming, along with her brothers Mike and Wayne gave each of them deep roots of soil, rugged mountain ranges and a love for community. The outcome brings a sense of time and place across generational lines. In a time when there is much fear, unrest and violence throughout the world, the memories of the heritage given to the McClaflin family within the Heart Mountain homestead community is of great value.
The cover of this journal was chosen as this was the mountain scene setting up high on the prairies of northern Wyoming that each of those families grew to love in those early years of homesteading. The history of this farming community is documented in the non-fiction historical novel, “Beloved Homeland, Growing up on a Wyoming Homestead.” The many stories of life written in the novels, blogs and writing journals can be found on Patricia’s website.

Quilters are a special group of creative souls who seem to have the ability to see creativity through texture and colors in a unique way. The author of this journal, Patricia McClaflin Booher is a quilter, designer and author of books, blogs and journals. She wishes many years ago she could have found a small quilting and writing journal like she has designed to enhance that creative inspiration in writers and quilters. The positive aspects she has found for herself from her own journals is that the notes and drawings she made while attending “Quilting in the Tetons,” in Jackson, Wyoming have been preserved all these years. The quilt on the cover was designed for a very special friend, Carol. Patricia encourages each of you to reach out into that place of beauty and creative thought and design through your writing and quilting. You will find this journal on Amazon.com
